“The principal forms of our physical and social environment are fixed in representations…and we ourselves are fashioned in relation to them.” - Serge Moscovici
That was a very funny clip, (as are all of his interviews.) At first I was surprised that the author of the book wasn't "white." But as she proceeded to avoid answering whether she considered herself "white" or not, I began to think of her more as white, and color lines became blurred. The Obama comparison is very relevant as well. When someone is half white and half something else, they're almost always identified as the other "minority" race. But most people, say for example with one white and one black parent, would probably self-identify equally with both based on their upbringing.
